Tolkien's Lord of the Rings series, "A Journey Through Middle-Earth," the new CD by Ad Dios, is a terrific diversion into musical fantasy. Combining basic acoustic instruments with trippy electronic notes, this album takes the listener's mind out of the box at an easy tempo. Named after the setting of the Lord of the Rings saga, the opening track, "Middle-Earth," sets the stage with looming melodies, coupled with bongos and chimes progressing from soft to powerful. Toward the end, the track "Rohan" invests the listener with the feelings of LOTR's main human character (Rohan) with electronic, regal-sounding trumpets and a steady bass line. If you're one that loves easy listening, then this is most definitely a CD for you. Just turn it on and let Ad Dios do the rest.

-Trent C. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Ad Dios's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Space Between The Drops" by Sky Cries Mary (Ambient/Rock Artist from Seattle, Washington(WA))

Sky Cries Mary, the Seattle Trance Rock band, has released a new album titled "Space Between The Drops." It is an album undoubtedly recorded in the audiophile style, as it is an exercise in playing with spacey sounds and psychedelic rock compositions. The song "Rain" begins for a while with a growing soundscape of rain falling heavily and interspersed with moving and floating talking in the background, eventually progressing into a slow and pulsating pysch-rock song that never fully leaves the feeling of the rain it began with. The song "Want" is an emotional track that dances with darker feelings in a song that coolly extracts its feel through a medium tempo beat, strong and solid bass riff, and highlighted with expressive vocals and some sweet string synth play. "These Old Bones" is more ballad-like with a heavy focus on the sound of guitar and an outstanding male/female vocal interplay. This album is for those who appreciate the creativity of psychedelic sounds with interesting and melodic vocals and love musicians who play with that in mind. So, for those who love bands like Pink Floyd or maybe Tortoise, "Space Between the Drops" should be something you should hear.

-Sean B. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Sky Cries Mary 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"The Dream of 'I'" by Doug Wyatt (Instrumental Rock/Ambient Artist from San Francisco, California(CA))

Doug Wyatt's release, "The Dream of 'I'" is an amalgam of songs that take on different genres all seen through the eyes of an experienced electronic artist. The album is well recorded and produced, as it needs to be due to the large amounts of ambient and psychedelic sounds that Wyatt uses within his tunes. He has mastered the art of computer-aided music, and this is plainly heard throughout this entire album. On the track, "Thrill of the Chase" we get a toe-tapping beat underneath a spacey yet uplifting piano piece. Then on "Talking Points" one is presented with grittier, more industrial sounds over a thick, driving electric beat. These songs are then juxtaposed with others like "Artifacts and Fantasies" which contain numerous intricate psychedelic sounds, and are devoid of a traditional beat structure altogether. If your ears would appreciate a plethora of electronic instruments and sounds masterly interwoven, or you consider yourself an audiophile and just appreciate diverse sounds, then "The Dream of 'I'" is something you'll want to take in.

-Sean B. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Doug Wyatt's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Origin" by Mystic Measures (Ambient Artist from New Mexico(NM))

Mystic Measures reminds you that not all music has to be compressed, auto-tuned, and popular. Their debut album "Origin" is a creative mix of native tribal music merging with some light, Techno synth sounds. The combination of keyboard loops, flute, and tribal drum beats makes for a calming listening experience. Each song is longer than your usual tracks, giving each composition time to unfold and capture the essence of the melodic and interesting melodies. The album opens with "Soul Seeker," a strong track utilizing robust native drums, keyboards, and a piccolo range flute. The last track "Gypsy" also utilizes other instruments like wind chimes as this complements the rhythmical beats. While each musician sounds talented on "Origin," Jim Kinney records an admirably skillful native flute performance. Fans of Techno-Tribal variations will thoroughly enjoy listening to the outstanding music on the CD "Origin."

-Matt M. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Mystic Measures's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites
The track, "Otherworldly Magic in County Kirkahan" is driven by a fast paced sub-bass and hand percussion while metallic sheets are scratched as an ambient layering. "Chorus of Cats" is another song where you can feel its pulse, but the emphasis is on the soundscape of distorted elements reflecting in a cave or dungeon (as one may imagine). The appeal to this CD is not a hook or killer beat, but rather exposing yourself to unique sounds that create a new musical palette. There are moments of dissonance but before long, a shimmering light seeps through, revealing a charm behind the shadows. Expand your horizons by hearing "The Lyre Speaketh," where there are endless possibilities to the depths of music.

-Max B. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out PAS (Post Abortion Stress)'s music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Medley" by Milestone (Trance Artist from Russia)

Easy listening instrumentals are abounding on Milestone's newest record, "Medley." Although the album does have faint hints of 1980's tones (i.e. Philip Glass), the record is quite contemporary and a good listen as well. The opening track, "Towards the Unknown," sets the overall mood and gives a taste of what's to come. A wall of synthesizers and pianos make up most of these rainy day numbers and are sometimes highlighted by some nice guitar fills. A great example of this would be on "In the Memory of Heroes" and "Half-way Behind." Milestone has done a terrific job in choosing the instrumentation wisely as this paints the tone color pallet that "Medley" offers up. This album is a great buy for anyone wanting some relaxing tunes to de-stress to or is just looking for some top notch instrumental music.

-Shaun H. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Milestone's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Arcadia - A Return To Distant Lands" by Rick Devin (Electronica/Ambient Artist from Brazil)

Combining ambient, instrumental, lounge, and world music seems like a lot, but Rick Devin doesn't seem to think so. His latest collection of alluring instrumentals on, "Arcadia – A Return To Distant Lands" is a wonderful compilation of mood setting music. There are a vast number of musical influences on this disc, ranging from African world to rock and roll. One highlight is the song "Alpheus River," which sounds as if could have been penned by none other than Carlos Santana with is stinging guitar licks. Another great feature on this disc is the use of several types of instruments, just give "Karma" a few spins and you'll hear an assortment of ethnic sounds. There is also a bit of Spanish flare in the title track "Arcadia," featuring more exotic guitar work. "Arcadia– A Return To Distant Lands" is a great addition to the collection of any fan who enjoys ideal ambient instrumental music.

-Shaun H. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Rick Devin 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"World" by Hjortur (Ambient Artist from Denmark)

Sit back and enjoy the relaxing music of "World," the latest release by Hjortur. In an inspiring compilation of blending the music styles of New Age, classical, and soothing mood music, Hjortur has captured the relaxing ambience of these musical forms. The beauty in which this entire album is produced is clearly heard because of the vision Hjortur has expressed through his music. Subtle drum beats and strings give flavor to the New Age piece "Ethnic" yet hints of classical piano add grace. "Arctic" highlights a grand classical piano composition with multi-layered strings and builds up to a dynamic swell of the drums. Listen and feel the sounds of the earth on "Forest" as the birds chirp sweetly in the background and the bongos beat to a simple steady beat. This soundtrack is from the movie of the same name. The movie is about Swiss snowboarder Géraldine Fasnacht and attempts to draw a line, so to speak, between the artistic vision of McConnell and the danger in traversing and descending the Swiss Alps. The album relies heavily upon ambience and synthesizers for its overarching sound, but that is not to say that it is not, as a whole, musically and instrumentally sound. McConnell incorporates the piano, drums, bells, guitar, a string section and a beautiful operatic female vocal throughout, showing his capabilities as a composer and as a musician. The songs are all centered around the concept and the movement of the film, but they are all composed with feeling and with heart and all belong to the mastermind McConnell. "Dessine-Moi Une Ligne" is well-produced and sounds great, ready for both the big screen and the stereo. "Fields of Air" is a soft instrumental with piano, drums, a bell and uses the female vocal as an instrument to carry us away. "Le Chant des Sirènes," "Rhythm of Life," and "Géraldine & Sébastien" all use a vocal performance as an instrument as well, where it is the noises they are making rather than the words they are forming that make the songs move. "The Fine Line – Part Two" opens with ambience, then introduces a string section, then progresses into a great rhythmic drum beat. "Dessine-Moi Une Ligne" is a fascinating soundtrack that paints an auditory portrait for the film it was made for. Fans of ambient new age and films about snowboarding, pick up this album.-Chris & the RadioIndy.com Review Team
Check out Craig McConnell's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Seraphim Winter" by Seraphim Winter (Electronic Artist from San Francisco, California(CA))

"Seraphim Winter" is the excellent self-titled debut EP from San Francisco outfit Seraphim Winter that features outstanding female lead vocals and delightful ambient arrangements. Fans of world folk and strong singer/songwriters, give Stephen Johnson a listen.
-Chris & the RadioIndy.com Review Team
Check out Stephen Johnson's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Dessine-Moi Une Ligne” or “Draw Me a Line” (Ambient Artist from Switzerland)

"Dessine-Moi Une Ligne," or "Draw Me a Line," is an ambient instrumental new age soundtrack composed by Craig McConnell. Fans of ambient new age and films about snowboarding, pick up this album.
-Chris & the RadioIndy.com Review Team
Check out Craig McConnell 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

“Creation” by Maximilian (Ambient/Electronic Artist from England)

RadioIndy is pleased to present Maximilian with a GrIndie award for their CD "Creation"!

"Creation" by the musically avid Maximilian is an emotion-provoking assembly of ambient/new-age compositions. Oz delivers an interesting and unique mix of sounds on this CD. It's fun music with "Storyteller" lyrics and a lot of creativity in production and keyboard sounds. A number of the tracks have memorable melodic choruses that nicely vary from the verses. Superb instrumentation – beautiful acoustic guitars and grand pianos – set the framework for Theandria's spiritual messages. "I Hate Loved Flowers That Fade" displays some tasteful male-female harmonies and builds to a very climactic rock edge. Imparting peace, harmony, and relaxation are the goals of this "Embrace," all of which have been assuredly achieved. Robert's spoken lyrics are delightfully poetic, self-motivational, and awe-inspiring. Told through his soothing and convincing tone, listeners cannot help but feel the inspiration imparted through Robert's messages. Gathering inspiration from the mystic creature known as the wolf, Aaron's Native American compositions demonstrate a great talent for creating tunes that are pacifying and spiritual in nature. Appropriately mixed with sounds of nature (such as the sounds of waterfall in "Stream Song" and wolves crying in "Choir Practice"), these tunes carry about a new dimension of unrestricted life. The musicianship on this CD is very impressive. "Soldier," the opening track, sets a perfect theatrical mood for the rest of this CD. Perhaps the most compelling part of these tunes is their ever-changing structure – changes in tempo, driving instruments, drum arrangements, and emotional atmospheres progress seamlessly and effortlessly!
